The X Factor, not about the singing any more!
When the X Factor first appeared on our screens, we had the opportunity to hear and see hundreds of hopefuls that wanted to be the next Christina Aguilera or the next Justin Timberlake. It was all about the persons voice being judged and how well they can sing and perform. Now however it is totally different. The participants are being judged on their appearance the majority of the time and then their voice. This is not what the show is about! It makes me so angry to think that just because someone doesn't have bleached blonde hair and is a size zero they can't win the competition. Last Saturday night i was flicking through the channels and decided to watch it. This woman was in her early thirty's singing in front of the judges. Her voice was amazing! When it came to the judges comments not one of them commented on her voice! They criticised her outfit they said she looked fat and in front of an audience. I felt so sorry for her! Then this girl group sang. They all looked the exact same. Long straight hair, skinny and wearing revealing outfits. They couldn't sing to save their lives! When they finished singing the judges went on about how "gorgeous" the girls looked and how they could be the new Girls Aloud. I was thinking to myself these judges are clearly tone deaf! I have always wanted to be a singer. Its my dream. All my friends and family think i should go for the X Factor. But I would never subject myself to such unhealthy criticism on national TV. Basically the message I think is being sent out is if your not a male model or look like Britney in her prime then don't try out!
